Checklist for a Healthy Body, and a Strong, Peaceful Mind

Checklist for a Healthy Body, and a Strong, Peaceful Mind

Being fit, confident, happy & peaceful don't require "huge" steps. It's the result of a lot of small steps, repeated often. Here's a checklist of a good number of steps you can take each day to give yourself a better life:

- Exercise daily. Get your heart rate up. Even a 15-20 minute walk in the neighborhood works.

- Eat fruits / veggies with every meal.

- Meditate for a few minutes every morning. Just close your eyes. If you like to pray, pray for what kind of day you want. If you're not into praying, just focus on having an amazing day.

- Do the things you've been putting off. Whether it's cleaning, a confrontation you've been avoiding or anything else - you'll feel pounds lighter when you get these weights off your chest.

- Don't over-commit yourself. We can only handle so much. Practice saying "no" to favors and commitments others ask of you if your plate is already full.

- Give others warm, genuine smiles throughout the day. When they return the favor, suddenly a bad day doesn't feel so bad. And a good day becomes great.

- Don't let yourself get hungry. Hunger leads to cravings, which leads to bad food choices. Keep healthy snacks with you wherever you go.

- Don't make excuses for mistakes you make. They're bound to happen, but rather than telling yourself a list of reasons why it's okay… just accept that you made a mistake, or that you had a moment of weakness. Reflect on what you can do to improve, forgive yourself, give yourself a nice smile in the mirror, and move on a better person for it.

- Stop throughout your day, close your eyes, and just take a deep breath.

- Remember this: you can overcome anything. You've got nothing to fear.

Simple Tips for Good Punching Technique

Punches aren't "pushes".

The force from a punch will naturally make an opponent fall back a bit - but you don't want your fist to make contact with them for very long.

A proper punch is a snap. It happens quick, and just as quickly as your fist goes out - you bring it right back and get back into a good defensive position.

Think of it as a rubber band. As soon as you stretch it out, it snaps right back. Now, don't forget: when you punch, keep your other hand up by your face to defend against a counter-attack. Always, always, always keep your face guarded.
