Your Mind: The Most Amazing
Instructor Ever?
A good instructor does a few simple things:
- Teaches you technique, and helps you master it
- Pushes you to surpass your limits
- Motivates you, supports you, and keeps you inspired
While you need an instructor to really learn proper technique - you can certainly do things in your own life to keep yourself motivated, inspired, and surpassing your limits.
One of the most powerful is meditating / visualizing.
Here are a few scenarios that will turn the activities you already do into inspiring events:
1. Morning meditation
Every morning, before you turn on the TV, hop in the shower, or whatever your routine is... go sit in a quiet place, and meditate / visualize. Imagine yourself how you want to be. Imagine a fit, strong, motivated you. Connect with what it would feel like to reach your biggest goals.
I guarantee after a nice 5-minute session basking in how great this feels, the energy will carry into your entire day.
2. Pre-workout meditation
Before your workout, close your eyes and get in the zone. Focus on having the best work out of your life. In fact tell yourself that you're going to have the best work out of your life. Imagine yourself going through your exercises with flawless technique, crazy intensity, and tons of determination.
Let the intensity flow through your veins for a minute, then go do your workout.
3. Pre-sleep meditation
As you drift off to sleep, imagine your life how you want it. Imagine your technique how you want it. Imagine your fitness, health, and abilities as you want them. Feel the excitement, and let it carry you into your dreams.
But meditation does more than just inspires you:
See, whatever strong thoughts you have in your mind circulate in your sub-conscious day and night. Your sub-conscious comes up with solutions to problems, answers to questions and more as you go about your day. By focusing on making your life, your body, your technique, and everything else amazing... your sub-conscious will work 24/7 to help you get there.
4 Things to Remember for Powerful
Kicks:
1. A powerful low kick is better than a weak high kick. If your flexibility isn't there yet, kick low and hard while you work on it.
2. It's all about momentum and hip movement. Your hips are the strongest part of your body. Let your kicks follow the rotation of your hips - not the other way around.
3. Core, core, core. Hip movement comes from a strong core. Work on building up those ab muscles.
4. Drill, drill, drill. I say this a lot but it's true: the best way to improve your kicks is to drill them. No way around it.
Awesome Quote to Think About This
Week
"You can have results or you can have excuses. You cannot have both." -Unknown
Pretty self-explanatory ;-). So the question is, are you going to list the reasons you can't have the life, body, technique that you truly want? Or are you going to get to work to make it happen?
This quote might sound harsh, but it's actually pretty relieving because it puts the power in your hands. You don't have to rely on anyone else to get started, or to work toward your goals. All you need is the willingness to GSD (get stuff done).
Have an awesome week ;-)
